Import Frames
Before importing a layout, check project permissions for editing (see the Teamwork section in the Manual for designers).
There are two ways to import a project:
Import via project url
This method is recommended for users who have a Figma Full Seat subscription or higher, or for those importing smaller projects.
Import from a ZIP copy of the project
This method is recommended for:
a) Users without a paid Figma subscription who import large projects;
b) Cases where you want to provide a copy of the project to third parties for import without granting access to the online Figma project.
Why are there two import methods?
Figma applies request limits to free accounts. If those limits are exceeded, Figma may return a 429 Too Many Requests error and temporarily block further requests. In most cases, this cooldown lasts about 4 days.
Users with a Full Seat subscription or higher usually do not face this issue, because paid plans have much higher request limits.
What if I do not have a Figma subscription but need frequent large imports?
In that case, you can purchase the Offline Figma Converter for Unity plugin.
Its price is equal to about three months of a Full Seat subscription.
With this plugin, you first create a ZIP copy of your project directly inside Figma.
Then you import that ZIP archive into Unity using the main asset, Figma Converter for Unity.
This lets you create unlimited ZIP archives for projects of any size or complexity and import them into Unity without limits.
Both import methods are described on the subpages in this section.
The plugin "Offline Figma Converter for Unity" has not been released yet.
Once the release happens, you will receive a notification in the UI of the main asset "Figma Converter for Unity", and a link to it will appear in this documentation.
